The 27th Northeast Conference on Andean Archaeology and Ethnohistory will be held on October 11 and 12 (Saturday-Sunday), 2008, at the University of Maine in Orono, Maine. There will be an informal gathering from 7-10 pm on Friday,
October 10, place to be announced, for those who arrive early.

Keynote speaker: Peruvian archaeologist Luis Jaime Castillo (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú) will be the keynote speaker. He is a Moche specialist and will talk on his 18 years of research at San José de Moro and the northern Jequetepeque
valley, Peru.

Transportation: If you choose to fly, Bangor International Airport is located about 8 miles from campus (~$25 cab ride). One can also fly to Portland Maine and rent a car; it's just over two hours drive straight up I-95 (divided highway all the
way). For those who are driving to Orono, please see http://www.umaine.edu/about/visiting.htm for directions.

There will be a cash bar reception on Friday evening (October 10) at the Bear Brew Pub, 36 Main Street, Orono, from 7:30pm to 10pm. for those who arrive early. There will be another cash bar reception on campus from 5:30-7:00 pm Saturday (October 11). There will be a special dinner for conference speakers and their guests from 7:00-8:30, followed at 8:30 pm by the keynote address open to the public. We will provide a list of local restaurants for others.

Whether you are presenting a paper or simply attending the conference, please let us know you are coming by completing and returning the registration form. As always, registration for the Northeast Conference is free.
